When mathematics becomes living matter.

01
Building by rule, not by hand

Parametric modeling consists of constructing 3D objects not piece by piece by hand, but from mathematical formulas and variables. Modify a parameter (the module of a gear, the radius of a wheel, the number of teeth) and the entire mechanism recalculates instantly, preserving perfect technical coherence. The advantage is fundamental: where traditional modeling requires starting over with each variation, the parametric approach allows exploring thousands of configurations with jeweler’s precision, without ever betraying the internal logic of the mechanics.
02
Complexity made tangible

This principle unleashes the creative potential of design teams. The ability to imagine and assemble complete mechanisms (gears, complications, force transmissions) makes it possible to visually convey expertise while maintaining absolute technical coherence. We thus have the capacity to enable users to interact with great watchmaking complexity: understanding how a tourbillon or a grand complication works, not by reading instructions, but by seeing it turn from the inside, playing with scales in an almost magical way, until the most sophisticated mechanics become intuitive, almost obvious.

03
From mathematics to algorithm

Lore & Lumière’s work begins by understanding mechanics in their physical reality, establishing the mathematical formulas, then transcribing them into a programming language to make them fully exploitable in level design or user experience. Not content with making gears turn in perfect synchronization, we go further: perpendicular mechanisms, pulleys, chains, angle drives. Each new functionality opens unprecedented playful and educational opportunities, and the possibility of creating complex, perfectly functional mechanisms in service of a narrative.
